Why the hell is flying so goddamn expensive in Canada. Holy Christ. I wish it wasn't a 50 hour drive to where I have to go, otherwise I'd try that!!

You just answered your own question. Why is flying in Canada so expensive? Because if you don't fly, you have an über long drive ahead of you.

That and we have duopoly. No competition.

Wait are you flying over a border? If so I have some canadian friends that when they fly to the US just go over the border and catch a flight in buffalo for much cheaper.

Ah. Screw that.

Nope. I looked at that. By the time you pay to get down there, play to fly all the damn way, then pay to go back up again, you're no further ahead.

BTW I did that drive once. 6 days. Could probably cut it down to 4 if needed.

Oh, what I was talking about is if you needed to get to someplace in the US. There's a premium on "international" flights.

Where the hell are you driving from/to? Nova Scotia to northern Alaska?

Alaska is not in Canada.

For all intents and purposes, it might as well be. The only reason why we keep it is for the oil and gold.

Haha yeah. Canada is *really big*. Its 4,463 kms (0r 2,800 miles) from Ottawa to the part of the lower mainland in BC where I am going.

That kinda sucks.

They seem to use the excuse that "if there were more people flying to X, it would be cheaper".
That, and the duopoly you mentioned.
